Village Manager, Riccardo F. Ginex, announced today that he has selected Tony Budzikowski as the new Community Development Director for the Village of Oak Brook. Budzikowski will fill the position vacated when the former Director, Bob Kallien, retired last month.
Budzikowski presently serves as the Community and Economic Development Director at the Village of Lisle. He has held that position for the last 17 ½ years, leading his department and providing similar services including building/code enforcement, planning and zoning, engineering, economic development and floodplain management. During his tenure in Lisle, he has been instrumental in bringing several large scale commercial, mixed-use and residential developments to that Village.
Budzikowski also served as a development planner with Carol Stream and Naperville from 1994 to 1999. He is a professional planner and administrator with 27 years of local government experience. Budzikowski is a member of the American Planning Association and American Institute of Certified Planners. He is a graduate of Iowa State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Community and Regional Planning. Budzikowski earned his Master’s Degree in Urban Planning and Public Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Village Manager Ginex stated, “I am excited to have such a qualified individual join the management team at Oak Brook. Tony’s experience in development, knowledge and his calm demeanor will be a great asset to Oak Brook.”
Over thirty individuals applied for the position. Budzikowski will begin his employment with the Village on Wednesday, September 6 . He lives in Wheaton with his wife Cindy and daughters Taylor and Jorie, who attend Taylor University and Vanderbilt University.
