About the Chamber
Welcome from Tracy Mulqueen President & Chief Executive Officer
On behalf of the Greater Oak Brook Chamber of Commerce, thank you very much for your participation and support over the last calendar year. This has been a good year for the chamber - and we hope your company also enjoyed many successes.
The chamber's board of directors recently completed a strategic plan to guide the organization over the next three years. The plan builds on our larger accomplishments and incorporates new initiatives to address emerging business needs. The chamber will expand its business recruitment and retention efforts through the Greater Oak Brook Economic Development Partnership, and now grow its work with regional, state, national and global international economic development organizations to market our community. In addition, new Economic Development Partnership Council committees are being established to address business needs related to transportation, technology, finance, hospitality and retail, and workforce attraction and retention.
The chamber will also expand its public policy work by communicating frequently with state and congressional leaders on legislation affecting business, educating members about the voting records and positions of these elected officials, and highlighting outstanding leadership demonstrated by them on behalf of business.
On the local level, new marketing promotions between the hospitality and retail community and our area's largest attractions will help drive more diners, shoppers and overnight guests to Greater Oak Brook. The new hospitality and retail committee, organized as part of the Economic Development Partnership Council, will lead these promotions and other new innovative efforts to grow commerce in our community.
In addition, the chamber will present new major events in 2014 that focus on the most critical issues for our business community: the economy and finance, public policy, technology, and new business growth and entrepreneurship. These events will include exciting, informed and influential speakers and be attended by a full cross-section of our business community - from small young companies to large established corporations. There will also be significant time for member interaction before each event. The chamber's extensive 2014 calendar of meetings and events will be distributed in early January.
The chamber will also provide opportunities for member companies and their employees to participate in the chamber's new councils and committees. I hope you will contact me if your company has an interest in any of the groups I've mentioned above. We would so appreciate your involvement. Again, thank you and please let me know if I can provide more information or assist in any way. We truly look forward to a great year for local businesses.
